Become one of our volunteer !!! 
If you want to become a volunteer for Moidjio CRCAD, please send us a message and get in touch with us. We are welcoming volunteers, student and interns, university projects. 

Cost/accommodation

 

We keep the costs for volunteering as low as possible because we make sure that you are paying the actual cost of your stay and research activities without us making a profit from you.

 

Teaching position: £100 per week

 

Includes: accomodation at Moidjio beach (bungalow and/or tent), food (3 meals a day).

 

Lemur mongoz research: £120 per week.

 

Includes: Accomodation in bungalows and/or tents, food (3 meal a day), transport from airport to field station, guides, scientific training, excursions.

 

 

Whales and Dolphins research volunteers : £350 per week (discount if you stay more than 2 weeks).

 

Includes: Accomodation in bungalows and/or tents, food (3 meal a day), transport from airport to field station, boat hire and petrol, guides, scientific training, excursions.

 

 

Green turtle research assistant: £250 per week 
 
Includes: Accomodation in bungalows and/or tents, food (3 meal a day), transport from airport to field station, boat hire and petrol, guides, scientific training, excursions.
 
**Price do not include VIsas & travel insurance or international transport/flights to get to Moheli.

 

 

Accomodations type:

 
Time will be split between bungalows and tents on the beach of Moidjio C.R.C.A.D.
 
Conditions are simple and rudimentary, based on the traditional way of living and with a focus of living in an environmentally friendly, low impact way.

 

Bad bits :

 
On site facilities are basic! No running water, loos are rudimentary .

 

Good bits :

 

Possiblity to shower on site using thermal showers (heated by the sun), or in the near village after expeditions.
 
Lighting is provided by oil lamps, candles and camp fires.
Food is organic, traditional and fresh, and all prepared and served to you.
 
Accomodation in the near village of Nioumachoua can be provided if required with electricity, water some extra comfort (£70 extra/week) but you will miss the contact with nature and talks with the nocturnal Lemurs.
 
 All expeditions ( humpback-cetacean photo-ID, turtle nest recording, discovery walks, Lemurs and giant bat monitoring etc...) will start from Moidjio beach. We will also take some time to build up the research centre with our eco-friendly hands. Where possible we will also help clear up beaches and get involved  in the social life at Nioumachoua town. 
 
Things to remember before departure :

  •  There are no cash machines on Moheli, just a Western Union, so please do prepare cash in advance for your own expenses and visa. 
  • Visas are to be taken at Moheli or Moroni airport, cost is 30 Euros payable in cash only (no need to pre-book them).  
  • Sun is strong (always wear high grade sun cream) and burns fragile skin. 
  • Malaria have slow down on Moheli and become very rare, nevertheless, we advise you to take advises with your GP. 
This is a none profit organisation, all cost goes to projects you are involved in.
